Pillow line

Handmade pillows from Joyce—I was inspired by all of the upholstery fabric flying around the classroom at Heritage and a bag of free expired memo samples from Linde Showroom. I’m considering developing a line of home products that have a crafted, modern and industrial feel. For pillows, I’ll choose heavy zippers with metal teeth—installed so the tape will show. I want to have the zipper be a feature, a nod to the industrial design style, but in a softer version. I’ve also added a crude braided tassle to give it a lightness and add a touch of accent color. The hardest thing is finding the right fit. So far it feels like the insert should be a larger size than the cover so the pillow is filled out, being careful not to go too full. I need to figure out if I can shorten the zippers myself. There is likely a special little tool. — Joyce Robinson
