This is a peek at my latest work of art, Still Life with Pitcher. I’ve always loved pottery and pitchers, bouquets of flowers, and drawing. So I decided to combine them all in a quilt. I was inspired by the modern quilt movement and Alex Anderson (alexandersonquilts.com) for the strong use of fresh white, and by Joe Cunningham’s (joethequilter.com) use of bias tape, and my many still life quilts with bias tape stems called Fresh Cut Flowers. I wanted to go simple and see how I liked all that white and draw with the black. My plan is to sew buttons onto the flowers for added fun and spark. I have a huge collection and I love the whimsy a simple button can add. —Joyce Robinson
